Terri’s (Whimsicals) vision for this quilt came to her while gazing out her studio window on a cold winter day at all her neighbors’ houses. Longing for those warm summer days when children and their parents can be seen about in their yards, and leafy green trees and colorful flowers are plentiful, she designed this quilt with all her neighbors’ houses on it and called it “Cabin Fever” to calm her stir crazy feeling! This 47" x 57" wool quilt design, thoughtfully executed by Lisa Bonjean of Primitive Gatherings, will look wonderful anywhere you hang or lay it! The background fabrics are a wonderful soft mottled flannel and the 100% wools are pre-felted and hand-dyed. The Kansas City Star newspaper company published quilt patterns between 1927 and 1960. They recently resumed the practice and are now printing one quilt pattern a year, one block each month. In 2007 they chose "Borderland in Butternut and Blue" by the prolific quilt designer Barbara Brackman. A quilt historian, Barbara offers a beautiful sampler 91" x 91" quilt reminiscent of the Civil War. The pattern relates to heartbreaking stories of women affected by the clashes along the Missouri/Kansas border during the Civil War. The color tones of butternut and blue remind us of the uniforms of the soldiers to a woman whose life was touched by the conflict on the Kansas/Missouri border. "Borderland in Butternut and Blue" book is needed for pattern and instructions. Cost of book with block of the month is 25% off the cover price of $25.95.
